My son married his sweetheart earlier this month!  It's been six busy months of planning and preparing for everyone in both families.  There were just about 140 people present......our family representing 5 different states!  I made some really fun rehearsal favors and I will post photos of them.  Pictures are being scrapbooked already and many of those will be shared here as well.

In other news.......I now am the happy owner of a MyStory binding machine!  I can make little scrapbooks in no time with a professional styled glue binding.  I am working on a special occassion book made from our 2010 Christmas cards and letters.  Other kinds of specialty books can be made using cards & photos from a wedding, baby shower, graduation, or ANY other special event.  Let me know what I can create for you today!

January is almost wrapped up

It's hard to keep track of just how fast the weeks and months go speeding by!  Here we are wrapping up the first month of this new year already.  Thank you to Kathy for commenting on the poll!  I would also definitely rather make a card than buy a card.  Check out Kathy's blog  http://www.scrappycupcake.blogspot.com/ to see some of the great cards she has made and you'll see why she enjoys her hobby so much!

February is starting off with a bang for us.  Friday the 4th will be both Scrapping With the Seniors and GO Club!  The Seniors are making cookbooks and I've already heard from a few more people who hope to be there.  Go Club girls will be making adorable little mailboxes for Valentine's Day.  Coming soon to the blog......brown paper bag scrapbooks!  I know this is an old idea, but I want to share some tips I've learrned and post some pictures of albums that I have made.  Have a great weekend and see you back soon!

Reduce! Re-Use! Recycle! REWARD!!!

Author: ~Missi / Labels: , , , ,

When the going gets tough, the tough go "green"?  Yup!  Times are tough everywhere and most of us aren't just getting to run to the local craft store and fill up a cart or two every week.  Yet, on the other hand, most of my friends have been talking about cleaning out closets and cupboards lately.  So I put on my wee little thinking cap the other day and came up with a stellar idea . . . "re-use" some of the things I recently "reduced" from my closet and "recycle" them into REWARDS!  Remember the tp rolls I was turning into mini albums the other day? Well, I made the most adorable album last night with lightweight jean material from some an old skirt.  A little red rick-rack from the good ol' sewing box, a ring-thingy from the junk drawer, some bling from the clearance aisle (bought months ago) and TA-DA!  See what you can make this week without buying anything new!

Cookbook Project

Author: ~Missi / Labels: , , , ,

Friday, January 7, 2011, I will be starting a new class at the Jackson County Senior Center.  It is called Scrapping with Seniors!  Intended as an inter-generational experience, this class is open to creative people of all ages.  Each participant will work on a scrapbook cookbook showing their individual flair.  Each recipe can be scrapbooked with a page all its own, or in groups with a unique envelope system to hold multiple recipes on one page.  I will be working with my teenage daughter to create a cookbook of our family's favorite recipes in a three ring binder.  We will include recipes, photos of our family, and lots of journaling about what makes that recipe special to us.  I can't wait to get started with her and see what we "cook up" for this project!

I love TP rolls!!!

Author: ~Missi / Labels: ,

My sister recently told me how to make mini-albums out of "smashed" TP rolls.  At first I thought it sounded crazy, but then I looked on youtube and found several others.  I was immediately hooked!  Our son's fiance has a little brother with Down's Syndrome.  Since we live several states away, I made a mini-album for E as a Christmas gift.  The front cover says New Family.  The next tube/page has a photo on it of my husband and the tab that pulls out of it has his name on it.  The back side says that this is "A's dad."  The following tubes/pages have a different member of our family pictured, named, and described.  The game is for E to look at the pictures and be able to learn our faces and names so that when we see them again for the wedding, he will be more likely to recognize his "new family."  Tonight I talked to E's mom...my son's future mom-in-love...and she totally loved it!  Now I can't wait to get started on another one!  Thanks, TJ.
